Welcome to world class fishing in the pristine waters of Bremer Bay. Whether you are fishing onshore or offshore from your boat you will be sure to catch an impressive array of fish. There are local suppliers of fishing tackle to keep your tackle box full of the right gear to land that big fish you have always dreamed of along with the freshest pilchards for your bait caught right here in Bremer Bay. Enjoy your fishing experience in Bremer Bay and remember to leave the beach and ocean litter free for everyone to enjoy.

On and off shore species range from Herring, Skippy and Salmon to deeper water varieties such as Nannygai, Snapper, Groper plus a host of other species. There are fish cleaning facilities located on the riverside across from the Bremer Bay Caravan Park on Bremer Bay Road. Also at the Bremer Bay Boat Harbour on Point Henry Peninsula. Please be respectful of water usage when cleaning your fish as supplies are limited. 

FISHING SITES

RIVER FISHING

The Bremer River consists mostly of Black Bream & Mullet. Crabs & Prawns can be caught in season but they usually need the river to open to the ocean. Boats can be launched from Muir’s Point Jetty off Bennett Street or access permitting drive across the bar and fish from the shore in the designated areas.

SHORT BEACH

Located on the Point Henry Peninsula Short Beach has deep water with a reef not far from the shore. Good fishing, no vehicle access to the beach. Salmon, Skippy and Herring. 

FISHERY BEACH

Located on the Point Henry Peninsula is also a good child friendly fishing & swimming beach. Facilities includes Marina, boat launching facilities. Squid and Herring and seasonally Salmon. Toilet and shower facilities available. Fish cleaning facilities available in the adjacent car park.

LITTLE BOAT HARBOUR

Located on the Point Henry Peninsula at the very end of Point Henry Rd. Boat launching facilities, 4wd only, deep water only 10mt from shore. Squid, Skippy, King George Whiting and Sand Whiting and Flat Head. PLEASE NOTE there is no spearfishing allowed at Little Boat Harbour from the natural jetty to the headland on the right of the beach and the plate coral patch off the end of the natural jetty. BREMER BEACH

Located at the end of Bremer Bay Road with access across the sand bar of the Estuary. Salmon, Skippy, Flat Head, King George Whiting, Herring.

FLAT ROCK

Access off Cuneo Drive that runs adjacent to the Bremer Bay Caravan Park. Walk down via the wooden staircase onto the rocks. Please heed all precautions when rock fishing as the Southern Ocean can be unpredictable at times. Free hire life vests available from the Hardware Store. Herring, King George Whiting, Skippy and Squid.

WELLSTEAD ESTUARY

Access by boat at Muir’s Point Boat Ramp off Bennett St. Shore based fishing at the many locations along side the rivers edge. Black Bream and Mullet occasionally King George Whiting. Season permitting Blue Swimmer Crabs and River Prawns.

ROCK FISHING SAFETY

  • Always go fishing with others
  • Inform someone of your whereabouts and time of return.
  • Read signs that warn of danger along the coast.
  • Avoid going fishing during big swells and rough seas.
  • Avoid black slippery rocks.
  • Discuss your emergency plan while you check the area to fish.
  • Wear a suitable buoyancy vest.
  • Incorporate flotation into your fishing gear.
  • Be aware that freak waves can occur at anytime.
  • Know what safety aids are available in the area and how they work.
